US COA Coordinator
I am the Coordinator of the COA accreditation process at my agency and I am also a peer reviewer. I thought the whole process went well and the Lead Reviewer, Tyran Copeland was very personable and professional. The whole team had a great attitude and helped staff feel comfortable during interviews by providing a calming environment (introductions, humor, sharing about themselves). The agree rating best describe our feedback because that means that understanding and knowledge was definitely on the same level. Strongly agree is a way to recognize it was better than we expected.

Valda was a Heaven-send for my family and me, during a period where living under the same roof constantly grew tense. The entire process with her was structured with a purpose, and that was to identify, accept, and resolve. She achieved this through technique and activities that promoted much accountability. The follow-up that she performs after the fact, amazes me, and shows that she truly cares, and is concerned about positive change amongst my family.

I thank you for helping my daughters threw their disagreement with one another and showing me how to listen to both sides. I want to be able to listen before responding.
Canadian COA Coordinator
We have all commented that this was probably our best site review experience during our time with COA. Valda and her associate were extremely organized, clear, supportive, personable, and very professional. They offered such an amazing balance of inquiry and positive feedback. It was nice to verbally be appreciated by the reviewers and not just to receive a final letter of ratings from COA (which is also appreciated, of course!). Thank you for sending these two reviewers to our agency.

A few months ago, my family and I were in desperate need of a mediator. We were bumping heads and not hearing one another clearly. Ms. Valda provided us with tools and exercises at our meeting that helped us write out our thoughts and feelings and relay them to one another. We were able to pinpoint the root of the problem. Our problem was listening. Ms. Valda made sure to incorporate the missing piece. I am forever grateful for Ms. Valda and her special way of lending a helping hand. We were actually able to walk away with the skills to gain 100% agreement.

Ms. Haywood was a wonderful trainer. I was blessed to learn how to become a case manager and to appropriately do my job. After 4 years, I continue to use the tools that Ms. Haywood provided. I’m a very satisfied customer. 5-star consulting service.
Bernice L. Collins, Ph.D
I have worked professionally with Valda Haywood, MSW for more than twenty years during her tenure with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). She has been instrumental in guiding treatment and placement needs of children and adolescents and their families. She also served on the Child Death Review Team, a multidisciplinary group of law enforcement, legal, medical, and mental health professionals charged with reviewing cases of child fatalities. Currently, she is contracted with the collaborative task of identifying and addressing clinical, educational and other level of care needs of children from their entry into and/or exit from the child welfare system. Ms. Haywood has a tremendous ability to apply best practice procedures for all aspects of child welfare. It is unfortunate that this space to describe her accolades is limited!
